The Youth & Sharing
85,9 percent of 900 surveyed danish 14 year olds thinks it’s ok to copy movies and music. Only other factors scoring in that range is “driving 2 persons on a bicycle”, 87,2 percent and “drinking alcohol”, 85,8 percent.
What to make of it - a big potential for participatory culture to be the belief system of the next generation - or some teenagers with lot’s of time on their hands to pirate stuff.
Whatever - it seems there’s no meaning for them to view music and movies as something it’s a crime to copy - and that’s the interesting fact no matter what side of the fence your on…

Interesting.
The following survey (in Danish) adds another dimension:

Yeah… it’s interesting how these things change. It’s just not part of younger generations view that there are copyrights. But then again, that wasn’t part of my teenage years either - we too copied music. We just didn’t have as advanced technology as we do today.
I have just released a report on 7th and 9th graders’ view on choice of school and one of the points of the conclusion is the kids have the same prejudice views today as 20-30 years ago.
Apparently some things don’t change that fast…
