Weird thought of the day

Wednesday, November 30th, 2005

Forget the personal assistant. The future is to have a personal blogger. A person accompanying you around in life, documenting whatever insights you might burb out, write up thoughts from meetings, read your 750 feeds and digest them for you, facilitate discussions on your site, delete spam comments, etc. Only issue is that for this to become economically feasible and there by widespread we’ll need to live in a transparent world where whatever your eyes see and your ears hear anyway are recorded and stored - for your personal outsourced blogger Mrs. Honey K. Balani in India to work on…

Monday, November 7th, 2005

As a follow-up to my entry about The Danish Cancer Society - Doc Searls, cluetrain co-author and thinker extraordinaire highlights the effort to get The Danish Cancer Society to do real blogs or abandon the use of the term. There’s something not bloggy in Denmark

Goodbye event for David Heinemeier Hansson

Monday, November 7th, 2005

A bunch of people myself included is throwing an goodbye event in honour of David Heinemeier Hansson who is leaving little Denmark for USA. It’s next monday the 14th of November 8pm at Admiral Gjeddes Gaard. It’s off course free and there will be free beer.
Come if you’re a friend or old colleague of david, if you’re a rails developer, if you’re interested in creating a successful open source project, value based technology, if you’re a 37signals fan or if you’re just interested what’s happening with the web. It looks like it could be a very special evening sending this young maverick away.

When Blogging isn’t Blogging

Friday, November 4th, 2005

Been meaning to blog in english about this for some time - but Jon Froda have done a nice writeup that makes that unnecessary.
The danish blogosphere is buzzing about how one of the largest non profits in Denmark, The Danish Cancer Society, is misusing the word and concept weblog by promoting a third person written news blurb as a blog written by the ever popular crown princess Mary - literally naming it “Crown Princess Mary’s Blog”.
Their head of communication, a guy with a strong broadcast background, isn’t even willing to engage in a conversation concerning the issue.
In the mean while a search for “kræftens bekæmpelse” the danish term for the cancer society all ready has this bad story as search item no. 9 on Google.
It’s as oldschool as it gets. Misusing the “new” term of weblogs for some presumeable funkiness and street cred - and then not even being willing to engage in a conversation about it.
And yeah, worth engaging in this since the concept of a weblog won’t mean anything if people start using it for sites like this.
