Nytimes: In a Wall St. Hierarchy, Short Shrift to Little Guy
In a newly disclosed tactic, Morgan Stanley and four other brokerage firms paid rivals that agreed to publish positive reports on companies whose shares Morgan and others issued to the public. This practice made it appear that a throng of believers were recommending these companies’ shares.
From 1999 through 2001, for example, Morgan Stanley paid about $2.7 million to approximately 25 other investment banks for these so-called research guarantees, regulators said.

Sterling Rush: Dressing the Set for “24″.
A wonderful article about how simple tools/solutions created by the people who are gonna be using them can work.
If this had been the it industry someone would have tried to sell his manager an “Entreprise Continuity Solution” with a zillion options to consider, backup systems, service contracts and legal mumble jumbo.
Instead he just bought an ibook with iphoto and created a really simple solution that works in the real world.

What blogging is to Google

Always On Network: About Google’s Eric Schmidt . What blogging is to Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt (But if he thinks it is so important where’s his blog? ;)

“I believe that this notion of self-publishing, which is what Blogger and blogging are really about, is the next big wave of human communication. The last big wave was Web activity. Before that one it was e-mail. Instant messaging was an extension of e-mail, real-time e-mail.
The next step in general for information is the self-publishing part. If somebody takes the time to write something, having Google understand that is very important to that person. So if you view the world as one person at a time, getting that person, that author to understand that we value, we index, we search, and we care about their information is a very important part of our strategy. “
