Mediawhore living is…

Mediawhore living is…
Being called up out of the blue friday afternoon while at your hairdresser by a journalist from the national television broadcaster on a very short deadline.
Had been recommended by a friend - the journalist wants an “it-expert” to comment on record industry’s attitude towards downloading/cd-burning/filesharing/etc.
Asking for a 10 minute think pause to think it through. Frantically trying to reach some people who really should do the interview , consulting with a few friends whether one should do it.
Finally reasoning that if i didn’t do it only the record industry would get their view through in the news story and that i had some strong view points on the issue.
The mass media broadcast system is fucked as always. A journalist on a very tight deadline who allready has decided on the story/angle - only looking for a somewhat qualified “expert”-face to put his soundbytes into.
The well balanced reasoned analysis you very carefully prepared in the 15 minutes you got to prepare!, reduced to some naive simplistic 8 second soundbyte.
But what the heck - somebody had to do it and i made the call that i hoped that i could deliver it.
We’ll see tonight on the evening news together with 10-15% of Denmark’s population.
Fuck.

Organic
Spent the last couple of days finalizing the new site for Organic, the company formerly interimly known as Metrostar. Still have it’s missing content, but there’s lots of copy for you to look at. The spirit in the company is amazing and we’re having a great time - all of us “old” entrepreneurs coming together to make sure a change happens in the way we can communicate digitally.
For our english readers we’ve done a overview of the company in english.

That Reporter Done Steered Me Wrong - How much should we blame journalists for the dot-com crash?
“Paul Boutin, a freelance writer for Wired News and Salon, says part of the problem was caused by the relentlessly cheery mood of the press in the 1990s. “You never got in trouble for hyping a company in the late ’90s,” he says. “Now, in the 2000s, you can’t be too negative, and if you write anything positive you’re looked at askance.”

1996-2002 Nasdaq Law

Wise words from the pretentious lawyer reflecting on whether he’s sad that he didn’t make a lot of money in the boom years:
“In retrospect it’s a fact that if you made serious money the last couple of years in the nasdaq/technology boom age, you made them by causing other people a loss”.
